Installing Android Studio on Kali Linux involves downloading the official Linux package, extracting it, and running the startup script. Because Kali is a Debian-based distribution, the process is straightforward but requires manual setup.
1. Download Android Studio
- Visit the official Android Studio download page.
- Download the Linux version (.tar.gz file).
- Accept the terms and conditions.
2. Install Required Dependencies
Open your terminal and run the following command to ensure you have the necessary libraries and JDK:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install openjdk-17-jdk libc6:i386 libncurses5:i386 libstdc++6:i386 lib32z1 libbz2-1.0:i386
3. Extract and Relocate
Extract the archive and move it to the /opt/ directory:
cd ~/Downloads
tar -xvzf android-studio-*-linux.tar.gz
sudo mv android-studio /opt/
4. Launch the Setup Wizard
Execute the startup script to finish the installation:
cd /opt/android-studio/bin
./studio.sh
5. Create a Desktop Entry
To launch it from your application menu, go to Tools > Create Desktop Entry within the Android Studio interface.
